This post is in regards to drop boxes. I’ve been playing the game for about 6 months and I play for free, except my time of course (I watch a lot of ads). I do enjoy the game, and I like the fact I can play the game with full content and without paying real money. Here is my complaint:
The drop box percentages are a joke. I decided last November to start tracking the actual percentages for parts with the drop boxes. I did this in order to determine how long it will take to upgrade each train for a region. I know its a real nerdy thing, but I’m a scientist and I love dealing with statistics. So, for the last 100 days I have been tracking my drop boxes. I average 8 drop boxes every day, every four hours along with “gold runs.” I would sometimes get the fifth drop of the day (I don’t worry about that anymore). Here are my statistics: For the last 900 drops (doesn’t include the big boxes); gray shows up 71%, blue 15%, purple 11%, and gold 3%. The reason why I’m posting this is, the last 100 drops I have had 75 gray parts with a streak of 16 and counting. Pixel claims it’s at a 60% drop rate and granted my sample size is only 900 drops, but this is the second major gray streak I have gone through. One “gray streak” in December had 21 out of 22 drops be gray parts. So, after 900 drops I would need some “major” other color drops to bring it back to 60% range. As for the big boxes, the average is more in line with the regular box drop. I’m averaging 61% gray, 20% blue, 14% purple, and 5% gold. I did go through a streak of 12 straight big box drops with nothing but gray parts. Everybody would have to admit, if you flip a two-sided coin 12 straight times on one side, you would start to think the coin is rig. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but where is the streak in the other direction? BTW, big boxes are a 45% gray drop. So, the coin must be really rigged. As for the daily offer of drop boxes (regular boxes offered Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Big boxes offered Tuesday, Friday, Saturday) I went through a streak of 17 straight days for gray parts, don’t do that anymore, as I would rather have the coins. Again I know it’s possible, but the odds are insane and again where are the averages? My complaint here is just to reveal the real percentages.
