um depends on how you define the Winter soltice thing
A lot of the world still observes the "12 days of Christmas" (the feasts of the Nativity and Theophany) while others observe a 25 day Advent Calander
There is also the issue of the part of the world that still folow the Julian Caladar, which places Christmass on (I think) January 7th.
considering that part of the world that places Chrismass on the Julian Calandar also has a country that has Nuclear Weapons its always a nice idea to wish them a Merry Chrismass then too!
