Just curious, what's the up/down voting of posts about?

TrashTerrier boosts or reduces your rankings in the forum...seems each person can affect one post positively or negatively by one point and in turn the posters ranking by one point

you were at 118 in the rankings until i upvoted your post and boosted you to 119

In other words, another pointless feature of this forum?
Where can i take a look at the rankings?
I see Points: when i hover over my name, but i find it strange that i have 120 points at level 76, while you're at level 111 and have 85 points(?)

Also, i hope they made it "foolproof", because if someone dislikes another user, he could downvote all his/her posts, and throw him/her off the ranking list

TrashTerrier yeah i haven't quite figured out what the level by our profile pics mean (maybe time spent on forum, maybe how often login..i'm not sure) and yes the ranking thing seems to be ripe for abuse..you could create alternate accounts, gather friends, family and that guy you spoke to down the pub for 5 mins to make accounts just to upvote yourself and downvote rivals...if you were so inclined 🙂

The level is obviously connected to your amount of posts, it would be nice if the levels also had a ranking list
As for the abuse part, i do have alternate accounts, but i prefer a fair game, and i only downvote others if i really dislike what they write, although most of the time i just ignore them without voting

And it doesn't look like i need to cheat anyway lol

TrashTerrier amount of posts may well be part of it but your ranking in the forum and badges on your pic show you post a lot more than me yet i have level 111 versus your 77....maybe activity has some part...i mean i noticed you were unusually absent from the forum for a spell not so long ago..maybe sustained activity counts (since these new features came in), i'm unsure

Maybe since the introduction of the badges, but if you click on my name, you'll see i "only" made 494 posts, and you made 715 posts, so that explains the levels

And i've indeed been absent for quite some time as i couldn't get used to this new forum, i still can't though, but accepting that i see every single post in the "All Discussions" section, and of course the changes that have been made to improve the forum, helped me in taking the step to be "a bit" more active again

Daily, but i doubt i'll every be that active again, especially now PF is firing event after event on us, so alot of busy days at the wiki(s), though the forum is a nice distraction, otherwise i'd dream in wiki code lol (although i might be lucky if i get 2 hrs of sleep a day)

you lot do good work at the wiki..i wouldn't have my confusing badges, ranking or level if i couldn't refer to the wiki most of the time...so thank you very much for surviving on 2hrs sleep 🙂

This topic might be way off topic... but I was wondering about the points thing myself because I see some people who are a "Contributor" "Frequent Contributor" and so on, but they have 3 points? and some have 100's but are not considered one??

Cargran_Need-Lithium_Gold i'm fairly sure the 3 markers of forum activity start and are counted from three different times..badges maybe lifetime of forum old and new, level and exp at your forum pic maybe lifetime of the new forum, rankings(points) are definitely counted since they were added a few months ago

To me... I find PF ranking.... why earth it even created in first place? 🤔..... as I find it pointless and meh..... but do wonder which PF team thoughts of this feature 🤔.... I rather have TS Wiki badge ranking over this... since I prefer it over there.....

I’m just glad I got a bit a break from wiki work and just got time to do my game... lol.

Accusing you, because you did, 3 times, with 3 recently made fake accounts, made at the same day
With the first time i suspected no one yet, and was wondering who i pissed off as i have a habbit of doing
Untill i heard that Rolf Al was also downvoted the same way, that's when i paid a bit more attention
As soon as you passed Rolf, the downvotes to him suddenly stopped
Also the rate you gone up in the list a few days ago is fishy, 70 points in 1 hour, not to mention the last 173 points in 2 hours
How many fake accounts do you have?

TrashTerrier Some people are just competitive, if there's a ranking table they HAVE to be top. Whatever the means necessary are.

To everyone; if you are getting mass downvotes please post links to the profiles that are doing it here and I'll ban those accounts. 0 tolerance. The forum tells you when you are up/down voted. Accounts that are voting and have never posted will be banned forever. If an account has posts it'll get a 3 day suspension, then a 7 day suspension, then a permanent ban.

To everyone else. If you are creating accounts to downvote others and/or upvote your own posts; please do us all a favour and grow up.
