This is insulting, to say the least, to the players and members of this esteemed forum.
You ask for input, and when people point to you the good things at the old forum that were not implemented in the new one, you scream foul play and post, pardon my bluntness, a stupid pic and a semi-intelligible line of text.
When one moves to a newer and better version of something, it's called upgrade. When one moves to an older and worse version, that's downgrade.

I guess no one has come up with a name for this here situation... What do you call when you move to a newer and worse version?

Understand that if you are a mod, you are a face of pixelfed. We will direct the messages to pixel towards mods & admins. If you aren't ready for that, then you should be here as us normal players and not as mod.

At this point, please list the features that you think do work.
I can sum it up with "Oh people can post stuff and like stuff. Just like Facebook."

I remember your complaints. It's not that I've just 'noticed' it's that I've just paid a bit more attention to what it does and doesn't do and thought I'd feedback in the hope that someone would look into it!

I have just waded through every post you've made and did a text search for search: this is what I found:

Just stumbled over this posting..... any forum on whatsoever site, how old it is (or how new) if it does matter.... I always can see what's the newest post. Here i just get some sticky and there's absolutely no button to show the newest input. I think that's to be accomplished first (if developers are reading this: please a good button "newest posts").

BTW how do i get my former forum name (that was the facebook name) as name here?

Oh my, so this turned into a mess.

My point was that I had offered up some constructive criticism in other threads and that I had tried to get over the 'it's new and I don't like change' and I still didn't like it.

I don't like the mandated colour scheme, there needs to be a couple of alternate themes (one of which needs to be black on white)
I don't like the layout
I don't like the search functionality (there doesn't seem to be any) Even when looking for something I posted!
I don't like the way sub folders nest into the parent folder. At all.
I want to read 'open discussion' I don't care about 'Add me'. I can either see all the Add Me posts or I can wade through a sea of rubbish in Open Discussion to get to what I want to read.

I don't like the way it quotes

I don't like that it pulls the 'wrong' name though from the Pixel account
I don't like the lack of PMs
I really don't like the way the emjoys are implemented

I'm not a big fan of the editor either.

It feels like a 1st release that hasn't really be tested by anyone that has had to use it as a message board. There feels like a lot of 'oh look at this cool thing that it does' rather than any 'OK so it does this, this and this and then we've added this other cool stuff.
It's taken me 2 days to reply because I'd missed that this has had replies.
I switched all the notifications off, because I hate being meithered, but the forum is so unfriendly to browse I might have to switch them back on just to follow discussions.

I'm sure that his project is someone's pride and joy and I can understand some reluctance to see it as anything but a resounding success, but it is worse than what it replaced in almost every conceivable way.

abhik66's posts above say it better than I have here, but this feels rushed out before it was ready and whilst being very pretty isn't great to use.

What i don't understand is why roll your own, when there are free packages out there like phpBB, myBB, etc that are mature packages for hosting forums. You don't even need the 2p to get one. All of the functionality mentioned here and elsewhere is to be found. Searching, private msg's, signatures, etc etc.

IMHO PF should devote their talents to the games, better QA, and timely bug fixing.

I'd prefer to see a robust forum, even if they have issues bringing forward all the old stuff. A link to the old forum is enough for me. Most of us, I think, are only concerned with new topics and discussions, and helping out newer players.

If I had 2p I'd put it here, but I got gouged again today by another Special Offer.

Rolf_Al I doubt anyone is still accessing that, but if enough people visit it pixel might bring it back (or they might shut it down).

BTW I also just discovered that this forum is not closed. Meaning other people can read this without logging in.

It isn't closed complete.
You can use it, but as no one knows of it, no one will read your posts.
And you don't get the Content of the new Forum.
Even PM goes out, will still be sittting in your outbox there, but the message will be shown
in the new message system.

Rolf, that is not exactly accurate.

I got on a separate machine, not logged into PF. Did a Bing Search on "Pixel Federation Forum" and get the following:

Yes, you have to be logged in here or only the portal, then using my link into a new tab you get to

navigate to Offical forum you find a post from me

and here you see a test-PM to TrashTerrier still sitting in my outbox, but he recived it through the new Messaging System

I think you guys are talking about two different things from my post.
Rolf, you're talking about the old forum being still present and if it is any useful.
On the other hand, Trevor, you're talking about this new forum being publicly accessible without logging in, with no way to alter privacy setting.

That's right. I was referring to the "New" forum. I have always had access to the "Old" Forum even though I never logged into it. Read-only. They still have links on their site that take you into the "Old" Forum when you are expecting to go to the "New" one. I was probably always logged into the the portal. I have not run any tests on the "Old" Forum although it looks like they are keeping it around for archival purposes. I was just showing how you can get into the "New" forum without being logged into anything.

Well, when I first came back into the forum and found it changed and couldn't easily find where I last came in, what threads I commented on, and just a mishmash of stuff in general, I stopped coming. Came back now as I have a bit more time to poke around, but I'm not impressed so far. 🙁

Even less here... I visited (and posted) daily. Now I realized that I haven't been here for more than 10 days. It's tragic in a way, because this forum was my preferred method of communication with my friends and fellow players. All down the drain now, I'm afraid.

Mike_Corsy It would improve somewhat if the illiteracy rate dropped, and people started posting their "Add Me" posts to the ...wait for it..."Add Me" discussion board just a couple of lines down--one does not even have to scroll to find it!

Being taunted every visit by 'GOOD NEWS' is what made me post this in the 1st place. It wasn't good news then and it still isn't now, please get rid of the splash screen and then make this horrible mess easier to use.
