Here's the reply I just received from Support. I do hope the deeply apologetic tone will be accompanied by a stash of shiny green compensation, but since they already forked out 30 emeralds to everyone in the game, I have a feeling we'll have to raise some kind ruckus before our ruffled feathers are soothed by having gems poured all over them :
