I agree. I can see deciding not to make 10 new decorations for each event, but I don't see why they couldn't leave the map alone and keep the spaces for all of them. I don't like this cropped view of the port that makes me keep trying to scroll up to get the rest of the town. I find I keep pinching my screen trying to zoom out. I miss the other land areas to the northeast and southwest. I hope they built a new sewage treatment plant somewhere off screen.
Having or not having the decorations really hasn't much to do with using or enjoying the fleet. That's obviously just a throw away line.
Personally, I am enjoying it less. A lot less. I used to switch out my decorations every few days. I did buy a few of the ones needing gems but mostly just got the ones with daisies. The daisies and the decorations were pretty much the only reason I ever did the expeditions. If they were hoping the players would happily spend gems to customize and switch up the look of their ports, they should have priced them a lot lower.
Refunding the gems spent was a nice gesture. However, I don't think I got back more than about 100 or 150 gems and I know I bought a lot more than that. Also, the exchange rate for thousands of daisies is pretty lousy.
