XP looks good to enable an escalation in levels, but it is a lure that will get you into trouble if you don't keep up with your town upgrades.
Soon you will be at a level that demands higher quantities (sailors / Wood/ Iron / Stone ) in the tasks, but you cannot supply these because you neglected your town in the pursuit of higher levels. That's the XP lure.

I agree with you. I liked xp in chests from JB too.

I couldn't care less about XP. Going up levels is of no consequence to me as there are no benefits to doing so. No better ships being the most disappointing. However there is a considerable increase in the amount of items required by contractors in their tasks, with each increase of level. So getting XP, for me , is an unavoidable penalty that I could do without.

I just read what others are posting. If you care to look at some of the several other topics that mention XP, I think you will see that there are a large number of players that would rather do without it.

And if you are indeed "guaranteed to be more experienced " than I am. Then fine. Good for you.

Yes I saw that. But I'm trying to understand the desperate urgency implied in the words of the postings.
There are no goals or achievements (apart from personal) at these levels.
Unless there is something we don't know and PF has never made public.

Thank you for your reply.
But as I'm sure you understand, PF are not providing any New / Bigger ships after about level 750 ( I'm sure @KaiPiranha will confirm for me). So nothing to gain there.
I can appreciate that it must be a personal goal for you to reach the highest level. I just didn't understand the "Urgency" in your postings as there is no real benefit for achieving it.
You will get there in the end with or without extra XP.

There is nothing else in the game that is of interest. Boring and lengthy. The same repeats itself after each event. I really don't understand you bother. Everything has changed for the benefit to devs (PF), not for the players.
Can't see what I have to do here in SP or PF.
Waiting for response from support what they will answer 😊
