During the Christmas 2020 event, PF introduced the ability to decorate our ports by ‘improving’ certain landmarks through the purchase of decorations with either gems or flowers.
Currently flowers have no other use beyond the purchasing of decorations, and the decorations themselves serve no function other than to act as eye-candy. Whether PF develops this in the future, only time will tell.
As a new feature, it has had a few implementation issues. This guide is written on the assumption that everything works the way it should.
WHERE ARE MY FLOWERS?
Flowers can be earned or collected in many different areas of gameplay. They are stored under the Inventory tab of your warehouses.
Note - anything you find stored under this tab does not take up any warehouse space.
WHAT CAN I DECORATE?
At the time of writing, there are 3 sites on the Home Port screen that can be ‘improved’. Two are situated just behind the main town, and the other is the Pharos-like tower on a small island. When you click/tap on these landmarks, an ℹ️ appears. Clicking on the ℹ️ opens the following screen for the tower landmark (I play via the iOS app):
On initial opening, the sidebar shows 3 decorations available to me - 2 are free, and one can be purchased for 150 gems. However, the sidebar is SCROLLABLE, and moving it down reveals a flower purchasable decoration: a totem pole.
GENERAL TIP 💡: Do make sure you have ‘Gem Confirmation’ turned ON in the settings menu - this should prevent any accidental expenditure of gems within the game.
Having decided that my port simply must have a totem pole, I opt to spend 2000 flowers and the deed is done.
Having purchased the totem pole, I can easily swap between it, and any of the free looks.
I have no idea what will happen to the totem pole when this current event ends, as prior to writing this guide I hadn’t spent any flowers on this new game feature. I expect there will be themed decorations that will change every event, or every couple of events, so my totem pole may well disappear in just a couple of weeks. It is possible that once purchased a decoration may remain a selectable option until a new purchase is made, but the potential short-lived nature of decorations is something to consider if you feel the need to spend gems on this feature.
