Add ship fully maxed or right away?

I bought a 2 anchor ship that I have been using. It costs too much to fully upgrade at this point so it is only 3 of 5 stars. Since then, I've bought a different 2 anchor ship with higher max stats. I'm wondering, would I get a bigger income by putting the maxed out ship (after maxing) in the museum, or should i just put the three star ship in.

[unknown] Never put a ship in the Museum just for income. They are not worth it. Your goal is to keep using your ships as long as possible. This is the only way to cover their cost.

You cannot put a 3 stars in the Museum. They have to be upgraded to 5 stars first. Once in the Museum, you cannot use them anymore so, think twice before putting a ship in the Museum.

We can keep an infinite number of ships in dry dock. I usually will keep a ship there 1 or 2 months before sending it to Museum. I keep a maximum of 1 slot in reserve for large exploration and send only 2-slots once in a while.

Ok, makes sense. The only ships I've put in the museum so far are the ones from early in the game, I think with crews of 50s and 60s. I still have 2 ships sitting in the docks in case I open more slots by upgrading the docks.

The gold you earn from the museum is purely based on the number of ships in it, how powerful they are etc has no bearing. A good tactic is to buy up all those cheap low level ships you ignored as you leveled up, upgrade them for next to nothing and fill the museum with them.

If you don't have any low level ships left to buy just buy the low level event ones each time and add those.
