I had the same, you have to work with the levers several times, as sandra said.
When you want to get out again from the upper part, it seems that the lever nearest to your exit closes pink when it opens white and vice versa. So you have to use one of the levers in the adjacent room (there are two more), that closes the pink door that is blocking you from leaving.
Then back again and the lever that is close to your leaving position again and it will open both, white and pink now.
