These wood are quite dangerous. We fell into the bandit's trap. 🪤

These bandits look friendly. They want to give the treasure to the poor, but they can't count. In exchange for some additional XP help them count the treasure in the treehouse. 🌲

In the tree house, how the heck does one arrive at 90. Are eggs worth 10 or is it 2 apples and eggs? There are no sideways chairs except for the one worth 6 (or is it the 2 chairs that are worth 6)? I've always been good at solving the puzzles but this one just makes no sense to me.

DiveBohol All chairs are same. 2 are worth 6, so one is 3. 10 chairs = 30. If chair is 3, egg becomes 2 as their total is 5. 10 eggs * 2 = 20. If egg is 2, one apple is worth 4, 10 apples is 40. 40+30+20=90.

Abhi Where are you getting 10 chairs, eggs, and apples? I see only 5 of each if you include the ones shown in the equations. And why have a sideways chair; it is not intuitive that it is the same as a smaller chair nor that the point values would be equal? What's to say one chair is worth 4 and the other 2? I'm completely baffled.

I agree with DiveBohol.
Considering there are 2 different chairs, what's stopping the smaller one being worth 1 and the larger worth 5?
Now that you have pointed out that they are equal it adds up, but does not make sense having 2 different chairs that can have a different sum in the first place.

there is only 2 solutions for it, 5 and 1, 3 and 3, anything else would make the middle equation impossible (well sort of as they like to have whole numbers) as it would be 2 apples = odd number.

Abhi The problem with this riddle is twofold for me.
For one, you say that each chair variant is worth 3 because both combined equal 6.

Well, there are four more combinations. One chair could be 1, the other 5. One could be 2 and the other 4.

Second, how do we know to count the treasure that is part of the equations?

I usually like Diggy puzzles but these types (plus the ones that require me to write stuff down on paper) are just plain annoying.

Abhi thank you for the answer. I know the value of each treasure, but too lazy to go back to each treehouse for counting how many of them in all treehouses 😁😁

DiveBohol Yes they should have used the same kind of chairs there, I considered them being different initially too.
You count all of the chairs from all treehouses, including the ones in the math (So 5 chairs in the main treehouse and 5 in the other treehouses)

Abhi You know, this is my bad, somewhat. I clicked on, and entered, the main tree house as I didn't really see the others so I was unaware there were other chairs, apples, eggs. There was no dialog indicating that there were multiple locations involved. I also agree with Turalyon about counting the items shown in the equations. There are many enumeration puzzles using skeletons, roses, starfish, and so on that do not include the items in the equations as part of the solution. Well, it's over and done with and time to move on. Thanks to all for your responses.

gamemaster Yes I agree too (like I said above, they should have used the same chair).
The other equation with 1 & 5 perfectly fits the math and produces a different result. So all you can do is try out both, not ideal for a puzzle, it should only have one correct answer.

The main problem I have with this is the chairs, like everyone is saying. I know I'm probably just repeating other people, but it's frustrating when two interpretations are provided with only one of them working. I see a bigger chair facing left, and a smaller chair facing right, so technically they are different. Assigning them the 5 and 1 values produces 96 total (with the eggs being 4 and the apples being 3), and I was scratching my brain trying to figure out where I went wrong. They either need to specify that there only 3 variables in play, or they need to accept both solutions.

My problem was I thought that to count as 10, one had to have a set of two apples plus a pile of eggs. So I never arrived at "90" as the value of all items, and I was including the items being used to illustrate the math.

This was not a great puzzle.

🤣 i did something similar and had stuff left over, the chairs being different made my values more wrong. 🤣
