I'm missing something here, what do I do with the ingots and the metals that I'm collecting. I really have no idea what they're for. Thanks

That depends on your region. Do you mean ancient scrap metal and dragon ingot in China? The scrap metal is used for making Jade keys you need in certain mines. Dragon ingot can be used to buy equipment, the same goes for scrap metal you have left over after making keys. Both can also be used for caravans and pillars to gather XP to level up.
