Known bugs & issues - WEEK #47

Dear players,

here is the list of the most frequent bugs and issues, which have appeared lately or still persist:

1.) UNABLE TO UPDATE THE APP ON iOS, THIS VERSION IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS DEVICE

If you have issues downloading the latest update and the following messages appear while trying to do so:

we are sorry to inform you that your device, unfortunately, does not meet minimum hardware criteria.

What does it mean?

Our app is using a technology, which does not support devices using less than 64-bit chip. There are a few devices, which have iOS version higher than the minimum required (iOS 10), but at the same time, they have only 32-bit chip. Due to this, although the iOS version is sufficient, the hardware does not meet the minimum criteria.

Unfortunately, we are not able to influence this fact, as the technology requires certain hardware criteria, which are not met in this case.

For this reason, we are sorry to inform you that in order to be able to continue playing Diggy's Adventure, it will be necessary to use a different mobile device or a PC.

Here is the list of the devices, which are, given this fact, no longer supported:

iPad 3rd Generation (Wi-Fi Only) - architecture: Apple A5X 32bit

iPad 4th Generation (Wi-Fi/AT&T/GPS) - architecture: Apple A6X 32bit
iPad 4th Generation (Wi-Fi/Verizon & Sprint/GPS) - architecture: Apple A6X 32bit
iPhone 5 GSM/LTE - architecture: Apple A6 32bit
iPhone 5 CDMA/LTE - architecture: Apple A6 32bit
iPhone 5c - architecture: Apple A6 32bit

Unfortunately, if you used to play the game Diggy's Adventure on any of the above mentioned devices, it will not be possible for you to use the same device for gaming purposes anymore.
If you wish to continue playing the game on a different device with your original game progress, please, contact our support and let us know the information mentioned in this article.

2.) ANDROID (GOOGLE PLAY) APP CRASHING, LOADING ISSUES, TROUBLES UPDATING, RESOLUTION ISSUES

There have been also a lot of reports from the players, who play the game on their Android devices.
Players report the following issues:

the game does not load
endless hourglass spinning while entering the location
issues with resolution
troubles updating the app
app crashing

If you encountered such issues in your game, please, enter the Play Store and download the latest update for your app. If there's no update, please, re-install the app - this will ensure that the latest version of the app is downloaded.
These issues should be fixed in the newest version of the app.
Don't forget to write down your player ID before doing so, in order to ensure that your original game progress wouldn't get lost 🙂

If the issues persist also after updating the app into its latest version, please, contact our support and let us know as many details as possible 🙂

3.) LOADING ON PC STOPS AT 39% AND GREY SCREEN APPEARS

If you play Diggy's Adventure on PC and loading stops at 39% and this is how is looks like:

please, try to use a different browser or try to load the game in an incognito mode (on Chrome, press ctrl+shift+N).

If this does not help, please, contact our support and send us a screenshot of the console.

How to do it?

While trying to load the game, please, click on F12 button on your keyboard and open the Network tab
Then load the game and wait until the loading bar stops moving
After these steps, please, provide us with a screenshot of your whole screen.

This might help us to find out the cause of the issue - thank you for your cooperation!
We are doing our best to resolve this issue as fast as we can 🙂

4.) DEMOIRGON'S REALM - ERROR WHILE STEPPING ON THE BUTTON AT THE YELLOW LASER AREA

My game dropped the quests that I was playing. The only one left is the one that needs 3 crystals to take off. I can't go further because I can't get new quests. Please help me. I've built this game up over years and I'd hate to lose all that game play.

Still taking a long time to load mines (minutes of spinning on a black screen).
The annoying "strobing" of animated tiles does seem to be fixed.
The red numbers on tiles are still too dark and hard to read.
The game still allows the tablet to go to sleep while playing. If this is a "feature" now, it should be a user option.
Jury is still out on the screen jumping for no reason, since that is somewhat random.

Note: None of these issues existed prior to the last major update.

Could you, please, post here (or send to our support) the screenshot of this? Were the numbers less dark in the previous version of the app?

How does the game allow the tablet to go to sleep? You are playing (tapping on the tiles, etc.) and the screen of the tablet is just turned off like if it was sleeping? Or how exactly? (Because this is not a feature for sure.)

Texas-Mark Jury is still out on the screen jumping for no reason, since that is somewhat random.

What do you mean by jury? Again, screenshot or short video would be really useful.

Chris1985 yes, we are aware of this and our tech team is trying to find the cause of this issue. But you will surely load the game on Safari browser in the meantime 🙂

ROMI Different device, but I can say all three of these things are an issue on my Android phone as well.

Numbers - Previously on the app version, all the tile numbers were the same green no matter whether you had the energy or not. Now they're red or green if you have/don't have enough. The red version are harder to read than the previous all green ones unless I zoom in more.

Sleeping device - Previously, my phone would never go to sleep when I had Diggy open, I had to manually turn off the screen if I wanted to leave the app open (like watching a video/stream for example). Now it turns off at my screen timeout/shutoff time, so basically if I'm looking at stuff in the game I need to either keep tapping the phone to keep the screen on or change my screen timeout timer to longer. Not sure if this is due to a change from you or an Android change.

Screen jumping - Sometimes my tap is registered as a swipe and sends the screen who knows where. Probably a device issue?

The new feature on mobile where if you do not have enough energy to break the tile, the "energy needed" number turns from green to red. The red is very dark and hard to read. Others have commented on this in another thread.

I had sent a message to support about this and was told it was a new "feature". Previously you could just leave the game running and the tablet would never go to sleep. Now it goes to sleep based on the tablet's sleep setting. Since the max time for this is 30 minutes on most devices, it will go to sleep after that time. I have this game running on a tablet that is always plugged in and on the end table. Previously, I could just leave it there and glance over from time ot time to see if my regen or whatever had progressed enough. Now it goes to sleep. When woken up, it almost always wants to reload the game. It worked fine for years prior to that last big update. The only workaround (kludge) is to run another app that forces the tablet not to sleep. Not the best solution, considering the permissions listed on the game include "prevent tablet from sleeping"

On mobile, sometimes the screen will just jump to another part of the mine for no reason (like a fast scroll). Others have also noted this in another thread. It is a pain, because sometimes it is hard to find Diggy again. I meant that I don't know if it has been fixed yet or not because it is random and I have not played it enough yet to notice.

Texas-Mark I had sent a message to support about this and was told it was a new "feature".

I have just found your ticket in our system and I can confirm that my colleague did not say it was a feature - you can find the screenshot of the message that was delivered to your e-mail in the following picture:

However, I can see that his recommendation regarding the sleeping mode of the device was referring to an Apple device, not an Android device. This was a mistake on our side and I would like to apologize for that.

Still can't play on android can collect food and make food then try to go into mines and it just freezes

@Darroth & @Texas-Mark since you both referred to the same points, I will reply to both of you in one comment 🙂

1.) Energy requirement on the tiles being red and green - this is how it should be, since there must be a visual difference between the tiles, which you can dig with your actual energy status and those tiles, which require more energy than you actually have. Anyways, of course, the energy requirement must be visible, therefore, I have forwarded this to our UI team that will look further into it 🙂 I am grateful that you mentioned this 🙂

2.) Sleeping device - this is not a feature, but it may be caused by changes in the operation system of your device. Anyways, again, I have forwarded this to our tech team that will check, whether we can do anything on our side to prevent this from happening.
Just one more information from me - it is always good to kill the app using the task manager after you quit playing. The worst thing is leaving the app open either in the background or leaving it idle while the device is in the sleeping mode. The reason is simple - this usually causes discrepancies between our systems and what is displayed in your app, which may cause a lot of problems. So I personally recommend to always kill the app using the task manager if you're not playing anymore 🙂

3.) Screen jumping - I have forwarded this to our QA team that will make additional tests to see, if something has changed in the app in this regard and if there's anything we can do to prevent this. Thanks for your patience!

Regarding the red color on the tile, yes I know it is supposed to be that way. However this is new on mobile as of the last big update. Some folks (including myself) have noted that the color is too dark. Just lighten it up a shade or so and it will be fine.

Regarding sleep mode, perhaps I read that wrong and though it said it was "now" (vice not) a feature, especially when it went on to say how to change the setting of the device to make it not go to sleep. Perhaps my situation is unique that I leave the game up and running on a spare tablet all of the time. I have been doing this for a couple of years. It was the last big update that "broke" the sleep thing.

Texas-Mark not unique, I used to do that too 🙂 these days I'm more likely to set a separate timer and save power, since I'm not near a charger, but reloading the game is slow and annoying, so I try to only do it a few times a day (usually just before I run an ad). I can deal with it being a little out of sync if it means I get to actually play instead of getting distracted and wandering off while it loads.

btw, I notice candyland has music! 🙂 seems like the sound issues are back to normal, so that's good. still wishing for a volume slider someday.

not playing these games anymore until everything is fixed. have to keep refreshing the page all the time . some of the obstacles don't work in some games so can't move on.
good bye till its all fixed . I have spent some money in hese games now I wish I hadn't. No more buying things just to get levels up and regenerations . still don't work on the mac. for me its a waste of my time and all the money spent .

Is it not possible to allow those of us using these devices to continue playing on the version before the update - which still ran perfectly on our devices? It sounds like there are many of us, and I am sure I am not the only one who cannot afford to simply buy a new device.

pixel_player966719195 If an update is forced upon, it's likely there is some content in it that is necessary for the game to continue running, for example, some file sent from the server that will crash the game if it's not up-to date. I don't know exactly how things work but that update includes something important that everyone needs to have.

So unfortunately, you need a different/newer device to continue playing the game.

pixel_player966719195 unfortunately, it is not possible - by technology, I mean the technology on which the app itself is running. We needed to use the new technology, as the previous one would soon become unsupported. A lot of games needed to switch to the new one (especially those games, which have higher graphics requirements). I can absolutely understand you, as I'm owner of an old iPad, which also uses 32-bit chip. This iPad is still working great (no lags or anything), but there are a lot of apps that I just can't use anymore, because the technology goes further and further. It's something that the developers just cannot ignore and unfortunately, the owners of the devices need to understand and accept :/
Also, what Abhi says is true - a lot of new features can be prepared and released only via newer technologies, which would make the game unplayable on the older devices.
