I guess I was supposed to talk to him BEFORE collecting the items I needed to progress. But I got them first but he doesn’t recognize me as having them. He won’t get out of the doorway so I can’t continue. Is there any way to fix this?

Did you get the map on the fireplace mantle? Did you retrieve the underwear from the laser puzzle?
