Well... that's pretty vague. I'll guess that you went either right or left and ran out of potential moves.
The two sides join up eventually and you will get the pieces you need to cover the remaining pegs. So try going up to the room with the red carpet and go the other direction. Just make sure you have not missed any secret tiles.

pixel_player67440057 If referring to the gates, there's 2 levers that must be pulled in order for both gates to open. If you started on the Left & pulled the lever, then you must do the right side to pull the 2nd lever.
