When Christmas 2017 was added, I compared it to Christmas 2015, and decided to do the latter again. This was on the basis of the non-segmented nature of the main story, the fact that so many gems would be returned via the game, that so many basic materials like lumber, coal and tin are supplied thru the game, and my desire to tackle the difficult challenges with my higher energy levels.
Originally I planned to use the Christmas bells to make crunchy ice cream, but I had forgotten that the bells could be used to make 4 hour speed potions. Yay!
In conclusion, even though the equipment is no longer useful (I don't have 2000 gems laying around), the game itself gives a lot of value if you are running low on basics such as Stone, coal, lumber, tin, and 4 hour speed potions. There are also some China ancient scrap metal tiles, and lots of other goodies. The return of gems means the replay costs a net of about 120 gems approx.
Plus, with 2018 Xmas game also starting up, I have two sets of Christmas rings anyway, but instead of 3 games all running at my "segmented" energy levels, one game is non-segmented, giving me a break in that respect.
