Yes, the Hands count as tiles so if all locations are completely cleared, then you should have 74 of them. Did you accidentally use one to buy the Mothitia Drink (100 consumable food energy) from the Shop or make the Paddam's Cupcake recipe with it?
There's also a Deadly Plant decoration (computer gsme) that requires a a Hand, provides 600 Experience points.
