The discussions about leftover hats in the Robin Hood Event reminded me that I am about to experiment with a different way of putting event materials, like the D n D dice in the Halloween 2019 Event, to better use.
It took me a while to notice this, but there is a pattern in the free access to events. Typically, there will be a current event, say Easter 2019, introduced, and then shortly after, the preceding year's event is made available for free, like Easter 2018.
By itself, that is just a fun thing to do. However, I also noticed that the prices of the camp equipment are carefully chosen so that you can only buy one of the premium pieces and you are typically short one or two event materials needed to buy the other. I would guess this is intended to generate more package purchases.
What I used to do was consume those leftover event materials by buying energy (which you cannot do in Robin Hood). Now I believe that is a mistake. The energy gained is typically a small amount. What I intend to do from now on, is save the extra materials the first time I play the free event. When the event comes around the second time, I will now have enough to buy two more premium pieces, one of them may be as soon as I have picked up the first event material piece.
I will try to remember to report the results of this exercise next year.
