I am stuck in that I fixed the pipe and turned it on and now find I am unable to get to the numbered doors.
Will I never be able to complete this level by not being able to smash all the tiles?

When you complete the pipe system and activate the forge, a stairwell opens just to the right of the furnace. Take the furnace stairwell to the hall area leading to stairwells for all the numbered doors.
(There are roman numerals on the stairwells. They are just very hard to see in the bottom image.)
