First of all, wishing you the best in your recovery! I know firsthand how hard it is to "come back" from traumatic injuries. Glad Diggy is helping.
In terms of the "glowing hands," I'm assuming you're playing in the old Flash version of the game? Being an app player myself, I had to 2x check but the newer WebGL browser game has them. And because WebGL no longer requires Flash, you can use any browser that supports WebGL (going to make another assumption that you're using Puffin?)
If you're limited to only being able to use Puffin, there's a toggle switch at the top RT corner of the game screen (below the black menu bar) that can switch between the WebGL & Flash version of the game. I realize you may prefer the old Flash version, but if "glowing hands" are something you want, then WebGL is the trade-off.
I want to ask you though, are you playing the browser version because your current device won't run the app or is the app too hard to see? If the latter, have you checked your device settings for visual accessibility options? My phone has two types of magnifiers a that I quite often use to see certain things in the game. Just thought I'd mention this as I find the app is much simpler / cleaner to navigate.
