Ok, I figured it out. After counting the sums of the objects for each color, go to the gongs and look at each column. Figure out if the first column has any of the color gongs that is on the corresponding row. Continue going column by column left to right, ringing the gong that is on a corresponding row. For example, say there are 6 white objects (there aren't really, it's just an example.) The first column has a white gong on line 6 so you ring that one. Not every column has a gong to ring.
