I don't think you are using the right approach when you are thinking about the difference between the day and night setups.
The night version is assuming you are asleep and not playing, so it doesn't matter if it takes longer to fill up because you aren't actively playing.
My two versions set up:
daytime I have the regen equipment at max, 13500, and I have just enough capacity equipment to match that hourly rate so I can pop on once an hour and play.
nighttime I set it up so that the amount of capacity I have gets filled up in the time I'm usually asleep, not any more than that. Since I'm typically asleep for 6 hours, I set the capacity / regen balance to fill up whatever I can in 6 hours. In my case, I can fill up 48000 capacity units in 6 hours, so that is what I have it set to.
Yes, technically it is a slower rate - only about 7900 per hour - but I'm away from the game for 6 hours. So it's better for me to have the slower regen but higher capacity in that down time than the other way around.
Does that make sense? So you don't absolutely max out the capacity if it won't fill up by the time you are awake again. You set the balance so you are full capacity when you get up. So setting up your night time capacity to be so high that it takes 16 hours to fill up is the wrong way to approach it.
If you sleep 8 hours, adjust it so you will have just enough capacity that you can fill it up in the 8 hours you are asleep. As you get higher regen equipment you'll start adding more capacity to the overnight since you'll be able to fill it up more quickly.
But the target capacity overnight should always be just what you can fill up in that time, no more.
Since I'm not playing overnight, I'm "losing" all those other hours because I'm not playing. With the switch system I get to maximize my use of those non-play hours. When I get up I have 48000 units to play with...and that's awesome. I've maximized my ability to play the game by utilizing my non-playing hours effectively.
I hope this helps. The switch system is a great resource. Some adjust it frequently, but I only do when I get new regen equipment because then I can tick my capacity up higher.
