If your question is in the title of the post, then you need a better title as it isn't telling us anything.
I think what new players don't realize is that this is a strategy game. It requires players to build their underground camp with the best equipment possible in order to play for longer periods. Agreed that initially the game IS tedious as early Egyptian equipment isn't very high in value. But once you complete the first Quest in Isis, you become eligible to do the Special Events offered by Pixel periodically. The equipment is much better than in the regular Shop & you get lots of free materials from the mines🙂
Plus Pixel often gives away Events from previous years (must be at level 35+) Events also make you level up pretty quickly, especially in Egypt, meaning you get those rewards of energy, etc.

If you're having trouble opening new quests, check the town, camp, or God temple for someone to speak wirh.
