Chinese Princess

Please help, I have entered into the Chinese Princess's room to get the stolen item. There are six circles with roman numerals and only 2 holes to put them in and I have tried every combination including bringing up the colored circles. I cannot get the stolen item out. Can someone please help.

For anyone with the same question:
One of the ball guests tells you to count the number of Royal Purple flags outside & in the castle. You multiply that number x 2. Then place the two stones that represent your answer on the marks in order to get the stolen statue.
