gamemaster That is a great post, and very spot on. Is it from the old forum?
To the OP: The first advice I would give you is HAVE FUN. It’s a game, and there will be times you miss something, or wish you’d gotten X instead of Y equipment during an event, etc. But none of that is game-breaking. There are no truly terrible mistakes, and everybody plays a bit differently.
I have limited time to play. So I have a spreadsheet template with formulae I made when my first Diggy hit Scandinavia. I use this for special events - primarily ones with the hard challenge mines. It requires me to plug in two numbers per mine - total tiles and the estimated energy cost for the mine. Based on the energy = 10x EXP formula (note energy = EXP in rereleased events), I calculate the average value per tile. I then further calculate how long it will take me to clear each mine based on my (quick or slow mode, depending on my schedule) capacity and regeneration. This helps me prioritize which mines to clear in which order. This is especially helpful when multiple events are active at the same time and I am also balancing leveling up. Note: with segmented events this is much less necessary, as even those events’ challenge mines are finishable within the time allotted.
I spend real money on this game to support the developers, because they need to get paid. But I am VERY strategic on what I buy. The “welcome to the new world” packages you can only get when you first enter a new world are price-fixed and normally good buys. Special offers increase in price as you purchase them, so I evaluate them very carefully. Normally the equipment in those offers takes up multiple slots and the value per slot isn’t as good as what I already have. I spend gems primarily on buying past events, never on energy or food (imo that is a waste).
I have a Diggy in Greece (not as far along as the post quoted by Gamemaster), a Diggy in Scandinavia, and a brand new baby Diggy in Egypt. We’ll see if newborn Diggy has learned anything from his older brothers 😜
