The PSS has never been purchasable with coins. I found becomes the MOST useful in Scandinavia, when one can start getting the high capacity (blue bar) equipment. That's when I could see a true difference between my NIGHT MODE (high capacity) & DAY MODE (high regen.)

Of course getting your camp cleared as much as possible is going to help too. Clear the taller slots first so they can accommodate ANY equipment heights. The more Event equipment you get, the better as it's higher in value than most regular Shop items. Especially the older evrnts, as those aren't region-specific like they are now.

Choose which type of equipment you want to look at.
It has the equipment listed in HEIGHT and you can see per slot the value.
Carts for capacity are the best to get.
Different carts are mostly 3 high, look in that section to see what materials you need to save.
The Scandinavian Capacity Carts are great to get and you will see a difference soon enough as you get higher in levels to get them.

I can purchase a number of pillars. Should I buy them just to level up and try to get those bigger carts faster or should I save those for later?

At your level i was using nearly everything to make food, clearing space, making iron etc.

My next cart is 4 levels away at 115. I didn't know if it was worth "rushing" to it to get more capacity. Since i've not made any pillars, there are quite a few that give 30k to up over a few hundred thousand. It's various materials and I wouldn't do any that used stone of wood. The rest maybe? What do you think?

To clear all the grid you will need alot of bronze and iron, will need to make it which uses up copper,tin,coal and iron ore.
Also the carts need those as well.
Herbs you will want to keep for later.
As for the others perhaps if you don't need them to make stuff, i was always making apple pies when i ran out of other better ingredients and still have over 11k of them.
Pillars much later when you know you won't need the resource for it.

Any thoughts on what's a good amount of equipment to have to enter Scandinavia and be able to complete any segmented events that start there? If next week isn't a surprise content week I'll be ready to move on, plot-wise, around the end of it. A lot of the complaints I see here seem to be results of moving up a region too early, and I'd like to avoid that, but as long as I can get through the events I don't mind moving super-slow in Scandinavia itself.

Currently I have daytime numbers of 1687/2449, and "nighttime" numbers of 1505/3690, though those are close enough I use nighttime in the day sometimes when I'm saving up to run Stony Landslide. I generate about 8000 food/day, and have 25k or so stored. I have enough levels and materials to buy the Amethyst Cart and the Norse Gem Cart immediately, but I don't have levels/materials for the Norse Tin Cart yet. I've bought all Halloween equipment, so there's not really much hope of me getting better equipment in Egypt until Christmas. So it seems like it's mostly a question of whether I can handle Scandinavian Christmas with what I have plus a couple of carts plus equipment from the event, or if I should stay in Egypt for it.

I agree with Seele, and you got to consider that going to Scandinavia requires 6x more energy than Egypt.
On the other side, getting to Scandinavia gets you far better equipment.

Well, tcpolymath, Idon't think that you are ready for Scandi yet. But, that depends on everybody choice in playing the game. If you will look at the last Christmas segmented event, for Scandinavia were around 1,5 million energy points to complete. Even if you will just struggle to pick the goodies it will be hard. 3690 cap/nightime it means that you don't have all the carts from Egypt, maybe it will be good to buy them. It's your choice to jump to Scandi, release the repeatables and then take a break to accumulate materials for carts, better food and event equipment.

Would you please explain what I keep seeing over and over ; CARTS
You just mentioned getting the carts in Egypt, what do they look like and where are they located to buy, and do they go in your storage area? I know where I buy equipment but just not sure what the "carts" are, or for that matter don't know what it means....exactly....when I see the 2,3,4 high slots! I know I'm missing something lol, just have no clue what.
Also as far as the switch system goes, I regen about 9500+/- a night, that is to say my storage allows that much and I've added the energy items to have that much in the AM. But when I try switching from night (which it pretty much stays on), I don't see that much difference.
At the moment with the 9500 or so capacity with my energy regen at 820 per hour (so takes 10 hours to get close to my capacity), if I switch it i get 60 per hour with limit at 200 to use when I'm playing during the day. Are any of my settings any good?
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm at level 85 now and no where near ready to go to next region until I can figure this energy cycle and cooking items down pat!

gamemaster I have recently stopped using cooked food and started storing it. So I basically store my cooked food until an event starts then I can use my stored food tae make sure I finish the event to get full benefit and buy the best equipment (I don’t buy anything until I finish the event, that way I calculate what is best). I am in the last stages of Scandinavia and only have 5 more slots tae Clear for placing equipment. I use the night switch but more often than not despite double checking that I leave the game in night mode discover that somehow it has “magically” switched back tae day mode while I slept (I have even tried switching tae night mode and continued playing for a few thousand energy but hey gremlins must be switching it back). I can’t imagine have 4.8 mil food lol the most I have ever stored is 120,000 I play on my iPad and use Puffin so I can access neighbours etc (I do have laptops but find I can play on iPad and watch TV at same time a lot easier) as I am retired I spend nearly all my waking hours playing games.

Ruled-by-cats try downloading Puffin to use as I use it on my iPad and I can either log in to Pixel Federation on Puffin and have neighbours or use the app without neighbours, best of both worlds

pixel_player64616012 that's a good point. Not sure devs monitor that forum, but imo, "real money" equipment should evolve over time, and get automatically better when you change region (not outrageously so, but just enough so that it makes sense to purchase it in the first place).

Otherwise, as much as I love Diggy, I won't buy anything, 'cause that's going to be useless soon anyway.

pixel_player17487663 The main way the player has to increase the strength of their Diggy is to clear all slots in their Camp and fill them with the best Equipment available. Since their Camp has a limit of slots, then after clearing all slots the only way to build up the strength of their Diggy once that is done is to exchange any lower value Equipment for higher value Equipment. As Regions increase the tile values in them, then so should Equipment available to the player in those Regions increase in the same way. To make the game a little more challenging as the player progresses from Region to Region, then maybe the Equipment shouldn't quite keep up with the ratio of tile value increase from Region to Region. For example, the tile values for China on average are 5x those of Scandinavia, so the Equipment available to those in China should maybe be 3x the value of that in Scandinavia, but it usually isn't even 2x the value. This is extremely lopsided.

By the time a player gets to China it is more than likely they will have cleared and filled all the slots in their Camp, so their goal to getting a stronger Diggy would be left not to getting more Equipment but to getting better Equipment. The lack of better Equipment (or sufficiently better Equipment) leaves increasing Food supplies as the only viable option for increasing the strength of their Diggy to tackle the increased tile values. Hate to say it, but this is probably the strategy of TPTB since packages seem to be aimed more at selling Food than they are at selling Camp Equipment. It's a poor strategy IMO.

The "real money" equipment bought for money/gems should be far superior to what you can get but it isn't.
Since 2016 the strength of equipment wasn't increased to reflect the newer regions properly in regards to the energy required for them.
Then they decided to region base most equipment and still not increase the strength of them in general.
Christmas 2015 has the best non region based equipment which at the time reflected what you needed to have in China.
As Trust_The_Cat mentions, China is 3x Scandinavia, but the equipment is only 1.5x at best.
Same goes from Egypt to Scandinavia, which is 6x more energy but the equipment at best is 0.5x at best.
A down hill spiral and then to top that off they offer equipment for topaz, rubies and amethysts which are almost the same strength.
As for buying Food it is a joke the price they think you should pay for them.
Yet, after MANY months of MANY people saying this is an issue it still remains the same.

Useful to have, but do not spend gems on it. Later in the game it becomes available for coins.

CLEARING OUT YOUR CAMP
As you progress to higher levels, you will be allowed to go deeper under your camp and clear slots for equipment that are three and four high. As soon as you are able, clear at least three slots of each height. After that, clear whichever height slot you need to for the equipment you have.

This is because there is sometimes equipment offered for a limited time through special events that will only fit in a three or four high slot, and this equipment can be up to three slots wide. By clearing the space now, you will always be able to buy or collect this limited-time equipment. Note: You don't need to leave the spaces empty - you can put equipment there, and if you need the space, move the equipment to your backpack.

Some older advice suggests clearing all the four high slots first. This was due to some erroneous information on these boards.

Purple_Digger It is nevertheless a good idea to start clearing the 4 high rows once they unlock when the player has reached level 45. This is because they will fit any height of Camp Equipment. It is also best, if possible, to save resources necessary for clearing at least three of the 4 high slots and use them during Grid Unlock Week. If the player has at least three of those 4 high slots cleared, then they will be able to use them to place any size of Camp Equipment that is and will become available, since the widest piece of Camp Equipment is only ever three slots wide. Any Camp Equipment occupying those 4 high slots can be moved to the player's Inventory to give them any empty slots needed for 4 high or shorter Camp Equipment that becomes available.

It is best to avoid using resources to clear 2 and 3 high slots as the player approaches level 45 if at all possible, saving those resources instead to clear those three 4 high slots. Right now, that would be a total of 3,000 Coins and 750 Wood, or 2,400 Coins and 600 Wood during Grid Unlock Week.

Alex_Clover I agree you should clear three 4-high slots once you unlock them. I tried to say that with the sentence "As soon as you are able, clear at least three slots of each height." How could I improve my wording to make that more clear?

After you have three 4-high slots cleared, I see no reason to clear 4-high slots beyond the number you need for the equipment you have bought. The same is true for the 3-high slots. Do you disagree?
