I am uncertain of the answer to this myself, but if you started Junglanji in Egypt and are either now in Scandinavia or intend to be in Scandinavia before the time is up for purchasing items with the Meeples you got in Junglanji (which is one week after Junglanji ends), then you should hold off on buying any of those items until you are in Scandinavia. All of the Equipment that can be purchased with the Meeples is shown with how much energy regeneration or capacity it has for each of the regions you can buy it for. So, for example, the Junglanji Rhino a player who the Shop recognises as being in Scandinavia would be able to purchase a +73 energy regeneration one, while it would be a +128 for a player in China. So I would say that if a player has jumped to the next region while playing a Segmented Event, and the Equipment they can purchase with the Special Items they collected in that Event show as being the value of the new region they are in, then the answer to your specific question is that they do upgrade. I would like to know for certain, though, so if you wouldn't mind posting the result I think it would be helpful to everyone. I, myself, can't see why the higher value items wouldn't be shown available in the Shop if the player has started a new region. Other items in the Shop that are region based open up when a player reaches that region, so it would seem these would, too.
